DURING her days working on the hit TV series ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ Dark Angel Jessica Alba was contractually forbidden from making eye contact with the likes of Luke Perry and Tori Spelling.

 Alba, who starred in 2 of the show’s episodes in 1998, was shocked by the hierarchy behaviour of her fellow actors on the set of the high school drama.

The ‘Into the Blue’ actress, 25, says, “I don’t really know why. Maybe because the leading characters were so popular they didn’t want other actors looking at them.

“You wouldn’t be allowed to talk to them unless they spoke to you first. It was bizarre. But I guess that’s what happens when you become a big star.”

Alba, who is currently dating director Cash Warren, also states that she is, unlike the Beverly Hills personalities, a well-behaved star on set and never makes any diva-like demands; even with her A-list celebrity status.

Alba comments “A lot of actors get away with murder on set, but I always like to be part of the crew.”

PEOPLE are going Knuts in Berlin zoo. Crowds of approximately 125,000 people have flooded in to Berlin zoo over the Easter weekend.

What caused this population enlargement you ask?  

Well duh, Knut.  

Knut, the cute little abandoned polar bear cub, has become a global sensation claims the zoo. 

Since the 4-month old cub first appeared in public on March 23 the zoo has received some 300,000 extra visitors. 

 Approximately 15,000 people visit the baby bear each day. 

Knut was rejected by his mother at birth and is now being raised by a handler. 

Confronted with the Easter crowds, the zoo authorities established a one-way system past Knut’s enclosure, ensuring that all of his fans got a peek at the white ball of fluff and cuteness. 

The 13.8-kilogram (30 pound) bear crawls out into the open Berlin air twice a day – around midday and in the early afternoon – to jump on the rocks, wade through the pond and roll around whilst his hundreds of admirers watch him in enchantment. 

As the global interest increases more and more, the zoo has trademarked Knut’s name for use on t-shirts, posters, postcards, sweets and toy bears. A Berlin bank is even planning to put the bear’s image on its bankcards.  

Knut is becoming quite the famous polar bear. Next thing you know he’s going to have his own television show. 

What make’s him so special?  

Well Peter Walschburger, a psychologist at the Free University in Berlin, states: “Obviously, his innocent, baby like looks are an important reason.” He also claims that Knut’s white fur and soft, round features make people want to protect him. 

Other nearby zoos have also noted an increase in their visitor numbers since the beginning of the Knut phenomenon. In the meantime, Berlin zoo has begun separating Knut and his handler, Thomas Dorflein, who has been feeding him with a bottle. The zoo, ensuring that the cub is not traumatized, has done this very carefully.

SPIDERMAN spunk James Franco is claiming that the bust-up that cost him his friendship with Annapolis co-star Tyrese Gibson is the fault of the intense lengths that he goes to tackle a role.  

Gibson, a star of the speedy ‘The 2 Fast 2 Furious’ spoke of Franco in a Playboy interview in February this year. During the interview Gibson insisted that he’d never work with the super-serious actor ever again after they had a falling out on the set of their film Annapolis. 

Franco, 28, has established that the fall out may have been his fault, and has admitted that he has since contacted Gibson to apologise.   “We’ve made up, or I tried to make up with him.” He informs Complex magazine, “Maybe I was too into that role. I don’t try to be mean to anybody on a movie. In the past I’ve tended to isolate (myself), and maybe people take that as me being rude or me not liking them, but it’s really a way for me to stay in my character. “ 

“I really had nothing personal against Tyrese, but I guess there were a lot of misunderstandings.”  

Gibson growled at Franco in his Playboy interview saying, “I never want to work with him again, and I’m sure he feels the same way. It felt very personal.” 

Gibson misinterpreting Franco’s actions is understandable, though his comments were quite unnecessary. Franco is none-the-less a terrific actor and a terrific and great person; one in which I’d love to meet or work with one day.

When Scarlett Johansson travels she is sometimes ‘Lost in Translation’ but it seems she is more often presented with the prejudice that still exists in this world.

Johansson, 22, has recently spoken out about her racist confrontation and how she is shocked and saddened by the racism of this world we live in.

She says, “People are still so racist. It amazed me – all over the world, not just here. I wonder if people are born with prejudice and we have to overcome it. Or is it, we’re born without it and it’s a learned thing?”

The actress says that she is disappointed to find prejudice wherever she travels.

In other news, Miss. Cameron Diaz has declared that she can’t wait to grow old and that she dreams of living in a retirement village.

The Hollywood starlet still young at 34 vows that she is not afraid of aging and believes the older generation is underrated by a youth-obsessed society.

 “I look forward to partaking in that elderly lifestyle. I wouldn’t mind being in a retirement village where you’re in a community with people who are like-minded and have the same interests. So often the elderly are just forgotten about, but I think there can be really green pastures at that age.”

‘SPIDERMAN’ actor James Franco has recently laughed off claims that his on-screen kiss with Camille co-star Sienna Miller was a dream come true for him, claiming it was quite the opposite.

The 28-year-old actor has contended that Miller’s toothache during filming made it a nightmare; there was no fairy-tale magic about it.

“I think we kissed once in that film and it wasn’t at all intense – there was no rolling around or anything. Sienna’s molar was giving her pain so she called the dentist!” Franco comments.

Franco divulges that he did not find filming the scene enjoyable at all. He also says that it had to be cut short after his British beauty of a co-star complained about her toothache.

‘Camille’ tells the story of a young couple who adventure on an awry honeymoon road trip on their way to Niagara Falls. Silas Parker (Franco) is a moody petty-thief, who marries his parole officer’s niece, in hope that he can use the romantic honeymoon to escape to Canada. Camille Foster (Miller) is the sweetest girl you can ever hope to meet. Camille deems that Niagara Falls will change Silas for the better. She won’t let anything stop the honeymoon, not even her death.

AUSTRALIA’S shining star Nicole Kidman has been awarded Australia’s greatest civil honour – the Companion of the Order of Australia. 

Kidman, 39, received the eminent award for her strengthened work in promoting women and children’s health, as well as cancer research. 

“It’s a pat on the back, which as a little girl is something you dream of,” stated Kidman. 

Kidman, joined by proud husband Keith Urban and parents, Janelle MacNeille and Antony Kidman, was presented the prestigious award last Friday at a ceremony held at Government House, Yarralumla in Canberra, Australia. Governor-General Michael Jeffery happily presented the award to the Golden Girl. 

“I think the great thing about you, Ms. Kidman, is what have you have done to better the human condition,” Jeffrey said, as he awarded a smiling Kidman.

 “You have become an honorary ambassador to UNICEF and UNIFEM, you’re looking after children and women’s issues. You’ve been a great support for children at Sydney hospital and a great supporter of research for cancer.”

 “Not only are you a tremendous actress but you are… a great attribute to the nation.” 

Kidman said that her parents would be more proud of her receiving this honour than when she won her Oscar for Best Actress. 

Kidman was originally due to be presented with this award last year, but the presentation was delayed due to her film commitments and wedding to Aussie country singer Keith Urban. 

Kidman is currently in Australia filming alongside Hugh Jackman in film ‘Australia’, due out next year.
