OSCAR winner Rachel Weisz has declined a lead role as Evelyn O’Connell in the third instalment of the antique action ‘The Mummy’ movies.
Weisz starred as Brendan Fraser’s wife/love interest in the previous two adventure films, now with a Weisz less film Brendan’s character Rick O’Connell has been left wifeless. Fraser has previously signed on for the 3rd film.
Weisz, who appeared in the first two Mummy films, which have grossed $US830 million worldwide since 1999, has been unable to commit due to a scheduling conflict.
Recent accounts have Jet Li down for the villainous role of the mummified monster in the new film.
The Mummy 3 is scheduled to hit our screens sometime during the middle of next year.
The question is what will happen when you take the Weisz out of the Mummy. Will it be mummified and sent to the bottom of the ocean? Or will it be wrapped up and treasured from here to eternity? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I guess I won’t be seeing Mummy 3 when it comes out or on HBO or when it comes out on DVD. I have seen all the Mummy movies and without Evie and her brother in it (Rachel Weisz and I can’t remember who played her brother) it won’t be the same. I’m sorry for Brandon because I feel it’s going to be a flop.

it was a flip, just as everyone predicted. The comedy was stale, there was no chemistry between the characters. what a waste of universals time, and a skid mark on the duo steve sommers made

I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE fan of the MUMMY movies and I was extremely disapointed when I found out that Rachel Weiz would not be playing Evy….the chemistry between the to actors is amazing and the movies were both fantastic…I have only watched a bit of the 3rd movie and could not continue to watch it ..there was no chemistry….they should have just left her out ..she could have been away or something but don’t change her..that was not smart..at all….too bad Iloved that collection adn would have been so anxious to see the 3rd…I think you should reconsider making another one and bringing her back..as it would restore your fans….Good Luck hope to see another soon…
