American Idol’s controversial judge Simon Cowell and good-hearted host Ryan Seacrest have got into the poverty helping hand bandwagon.
The pair flew to Africa to give back and serve.
Simon says, “Having witnessed some of the appalling conditions in Africa firsthand, I’m especially proud that our show is offering Americans the chance to help those most in need.” Ensuring that American charities will equally benefit from these efforts was one of my priorities, and I’d like to thank our sponsors for their support and generosity in making this possible.”
Added Ryan, “I thought I was prepared for what I would see in Africa, but the level of poverty was beyond anything I could have imagined. You see it, you smell it, you taste it. However, despite the extreme conditions, you feel an incredible sense of hope from the people … especially the children.”
Seacrest, Cowell and other Idol judges Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul are also planning to travel to parts of America “hit hardest by poverty, illiteracy and natural disasters.”
Hmm.. Could Simon and Ryan be the next Brad and Ang?

Africa is one big continent with 53 different nations. It would be nice to know exactly which country Ryan and Simon visited. Note that when someone talks about a noble deed like that, if it were in Europe or the americas, a country would be specified. I think it’s great for other countries to be a bit more informed about Africa because many Americans think Africa is one country with Nelson Mandela as president. Nonetheless, Ryan and Simon, many thanks for the kind and thoughtful gesture to my continent.

If I was not an African, I would not have guessed where Simon and Ryan visited, but the pictures shows Kibera or Mathari slums in Kenya. Hey, put the facts straight, Africa is big with different cultures , languages and people. we do not have 1 president. Thanks Moraa for reminding the world that. We need clarification of where the hell in Africa did the 2 visit. The world need to know for the sake of information. If it was in the US, they could have said, they went to New york etc, Europe, they were in Monace or Vertican city, HELP THE DATA PLEASE

It was nice to see Simon and Ryan in Africa. Thanks for all the help for the poor but did you see the cities or did you stay in nice hotels? Did you have something nice to eat in Africa? Did you have a chance to visit our National Parks? Did you experience our African hospitality?I do hope in spite of our poverty you had something nice to experience in our Africa. Please let the world know that we have slums that smell but we also have the best homes here in Africa. Please let us know where in Africa you visited. That certainly wasnt my country Uganda!!! Thank you so much.

Mmmhh! Indeed I agree wit u guyz. Africa is def a very large continent. But dat was definelty Kibera slums in Kenya which is in East Africa.(not west). They also went to Kisumu which is still a town in Kenya. bt i also hope they visited da nice places too, lyke Maasai Mara game reserve, Tsavo National park, Thompson falls, the historical Great Riftvalley, lake Bogori, National meusiums lyke the ones in Mombasa Kenya etc, etc, the list is endless. yes there are slums and poor people. bt they are also the rich and da beuty of our precious country. think of this. Africa n particularly Kenya has very beatiful houses compared to American houses. of course they dint show them bt they are there. How did they miss Nairobi city and its just a few miles from Kibera slums???? why dint they show this beatiful city??? but of course we understand. if they did, Americans wont have donated much money.
Thanks Simon and Ryan, my favourtie Carrie Underwood, Josh and everyone who made this a sucess and the wonderful viewers who donated. God bless.
