Keith sheds some light on facing the big 40 and his ambitions to become a family man

By Honey Gillard  Worldwide country singing sensation Keith Urban recently opened up to the UK Sunday Telegraph, sharing news on children – hopes for future lil urban-munchkins as well Nicole’s kiddos – marriage and on preparing to turn 40.

On wanting children of his own:”I am looking forward to fatherhood. I have always wanted to be a good dad. My brother’s got two kids and he’s an excellent dad and I think we both have that sense of being home and being solid family guys.

On being a stepfather to Nicole’s two adopted kids, Isabella and Connor:“I don’t get to see the kids as much as probably a lot of stepdads would, but it is a good relationship.”

On turning 40 in October: “It feels just right. I don’t feel what I thought that wretched age was going to be like. I have done a lot of things and it has been full up to this point, especially the last few years, so I am grateful for that.”

On his marriage to Nicole:As far as being a married man, it is the best thing I have ever done. And it is not just about being married; to me, it is about being married to her, to that woman because she has just saved my life — absolutely saved it. Everything happens for a reason so the timing of that (rehab) was divinely inspired.”

On being forced to cut short their January holiday on the NSW South Coast in after a run in with Australian paparazzi: “Because Nic and I are so private, it tends to make people want to see what that privacy is really all about. If we were plastered in the magazines all the time and sort of got pictures willingly, it would wear off and probably people wouldn’t want them so much. The fact that we actually go out of our way to be a bit more elusive tends to exacerbate the situation but I would just rather have a more quiet life, like we do. It is relatively quiet compared to most, I think.”

Keith was recently spotted with Mrs. Nicole Kidman holding hand and looking high on life, as they walked into the world premiere of ‘Distracted’ in California. The film stars Rita Wilson.

Reese Witherspoon is ‘Bazarrely’ glamorous on the inside as well the out.

By Honey Gillard It’s Reese fever as further pictures are released of the extraordinary shots of Miss. Witherspoon from the April 2007 issue of Harper’s Bazaar are released. The cover pic – which I personally think is stunning – disappointed some but they’d be happy to know the inside pictures just get better. So don’t worry she is even more beautiful on the inside than the outside (I mean that both literally and personally).

Reese was quoted in the magazine saying:

“I’m a very open person, but I don’t think there’s one sentence that can sum up an experience,” she continues “I think any life-changing experience sort of demands evaluation, really looking at yourself and your life. And it’s still a situation that’s not that far away.”

It’s a testament to the public’s sympathy for Reese that the tabloids have been (relatively) respectful. “I’ve had interesting experiences with the paparazzi recently when they’ve been apologetic about taking my picture,” she says. For now, though, she and her children will go to the grocery store only during weeks when Mommy and Daddy aren’t on the cover of the gossip rays.

For the full interview head down to your local newsagent and pick up the fresh and cultivating issue, with the glamorous miss Reese Witherspoon sporting her beautiful face on the cover, as well as several inside pages.

Forks are so over-rated these days, so eat that pudding with-er-spoon.

Green is the new black! Australians speak out on the trendy Earth Hour.

By Honey Gillard

Sydney Morning Herald sets out to prove that green is the new black, highlighting quotes and opinions of several individuals across our vast land, concerning this coming ‘Earth Hour’ (31st of March people ;))and the much debated topic of global warming. Here are a few snippets thanks to the SMH and Earth hour:

Tracy Spicer (Newsreader)

“Governments have been dragging their feet, with the refusal of the US and Australia to sign the Kyoto agreement an act of environmental vandalism. UN scientists predict floods, famine, disease epidemics and farmland turning to desert. So, we all face exorbitant food and fuel prices, searingly hot and windy summers and an uncertain future for our children.”

Hannah Perkins (Intern, actnow.com.au)

“The more people get on board and support the campaign, the more it will have a significant effect on what our government is going to do about the issue.

“I will continue to ride my bike to work and the gym, conserve my water use and, when I buy a home, I will look for one that can incorporate a sustainable lifestyle. I’m sure that in future there will be far more radical things that I need to do as well.”

Mark Dynamix (Sydney DJ)“Many environmental campaigns focus on broader issues and talk about statistics. I like Earth Hour because it has simple proactive steps that anyone can do with little effort. Collectively, the population of this country (and of others) can make a big difference.“Global warming is a big-picture issue. Redirection of effort, resources and budget by our world leaders will go a long way to constructively resolving the problem. The corporate and household commitment to Earth Hour by Australians will do much to educate our government and raise the profile of the environment on political agendas.”

Greg Mullins (NSW Fire Brigades Commissioner)

“Fire services throughout the world are already experiencing consequences of global warming - more frequent bushfires, floods, droughts, heat waves and cyclones impacting our economies, environment, human health and precious water resources. Scientists tell us there is worse to come. Going without lights on March 31 is a good way of acknowledging the affects of climate change and the imperative to take action now to rescue our planet.”

Got something to say? Want to help this beautiful world we live in, maintain it’s natural beauty… well get onto Earth Hour… Switch off to Switch on…

Switching of..

“It wasn’t just us. The newly single actress says her appearance at the Golden Globes in January was a chic coming-out for her. “I felt like I looked different than I’ve ever looked,” Witherspoon tells April’s Harper’s Bazaar, on stands March 27.The Oscar-winning actress and mother of two has taken some fashion hits for dowdy choices. She credits Nina Ricci designer Olivier Theyskens for the fresh look that has evolved since she and husband Ryan Phillippe split in October. “I’ve used a stylist before, but these days I’m kind of just going with Olivier’s taste.”Also contributing to her new sleek style: closet purging. “I recently put a big pile of clothes on the floor of my closet, and I looked at a lot of the stuff and thought, ‘That’s not me at all. What was I thinking?’ (For Legally Blonde) I went through a pink phase like you wouldn’t believe. Then there was a (Italian label) Marni phase when I was doing Sweet Home Alabama that was out of control.

Oh the memories.. This girl just gets stronger and stronger.. and still manages to keep us loving her movies… J

Bell’s are ringing for Kristen, as she is signed up for 2 lead roles

Kristen BellBy Honey Gillard

KRISTEN Bell, or better known as everyone’s favourite teen television detective Veronica Mars, is reportedly preparing to star lead in not 1, but 2 up and coming movies.

Bell is set to play a title character in the romantic comedy ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’, alongside ‘How I met your mother’s’ Jason Segel. Jason also wrote the screenplay for the movie. The story follows Peter (Segel), who suffers from a devastating and heart-wrenching break-up with his girlfriend; TV sitcom star Sarah Marshall (Bell). Heartbroken & depressed he heads to Hawaii, for a little vacation and Jason time, to try his very best to forget every little detail of his relationship with Sarah. But love laughs at him, because Sarah is looking for a little bit of vacationing time herself, ironically, in the very same exclusive resort as Peter, and with her new boyfriend.

The second role that Bell is preparing to add to her growing filmography is indie drama Antique. The movie will co-star William H. Macy and will centre around the intertwining lives of 8 residents in Echo Park, as they all search for the strength to break free from the pains and dramas of their past. Bell will be portraying Claire, a young girl who after befriending a homeless man (Macy) learns the only way to improve her life is to leave the people who have been holding her back. Other members of the ‘Antique’ cast will include Rachel Leigh Cook as Claire’s self-destructive best friend, Samantha; Lolita as Claire’s alcoholic mother; Kevin Zeegers as her drug dealing boyfriend, Danny and Anne Archer as Danny’s grieving mom.

Filming on ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ is set to begin in mid-April, during Bell’s next hiatus from hit CW teen drama ‘Veronica Mars’. There is no word on when filming will begin on ‘Antique’.

Seacrest and Cowell take a trip to Africa; to give back and give love

American Idol’s controversial judge Simon Cowell and good-hearted host Ryan Seacrest have got into the poverty helping hand bandwagon.

The pair flew to Africa to give back and serve.

Simon says, “Having witnessed some of the appalling conditions in Africa firsthand, I’m especially proud that our show is offering Americans the chance to help those most in need.” Ensuring that American charities will equally benefit from these efforts was one of my priorities, and I’d like to thank our sponsors for their support and generosity in making this possible.”

Added Ryan, “I thought I was prepared for what I would see in Africa, but the level of poverty was beyond anything I could have imagined. You see it, you smell it, you taste it. However, despite the extreme conditions, you feel an incredible sense of hope from the people … especially the children.”

Seacrest, Cowell and other Idol judges Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul are also planning to travel to parts of America “hit hardest by poverty, illiteracy and natural disasters.”

Hmm.. Could Simon and Ryan be the next Brad and Ang?

EU agrees to bind their targets for greenhouse emission; notching up their battle tactics against the big, bad Global Warming

By Honey Gillard

THE European Union (EU) have seized the initiative on global warming, EU leaders agreed to combat global warming by constructing more windmills, solar panels and efficient light bulbs, to lower greenhouse emissions.

On Friday, the European Union heads of state and government agreed to set binding goals concerning the distribution of renewable energy in the bloc’s energy fusion, and an independent reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2020. Angela Merkel, German chancellor, challenged the rest of the world that even if the measures force changes in lifestyle, business and economy, they should follow suit. He reinforced the claim that “there still was time to avoid what could well be a human calamity”, being the result of an overheated planet.

European leaders said, “The challenges of climate change need to be tackled effectively and urgently … The European Council underlines the vital importance of achieving the strategic objective of limiting the global average temperature increase to not more than two degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.”Though the 27 European Union nations came together in the agreement to structure further windmills and other environmental aids, they remained separated when the conversation turned to nuclear power; a tool that produces small amounts of CO2, but rather takes a toll on the environment with the production of large sums of radioactive waste.

“We assume leadership with this unilateral reduction,’’ stated French president Jacques Chirac, “This is part of the great moments of European history.’’

Kirsten Dunst cannot be with anybody fancy.. or so she tells V magazine

By Honey Gillard

With Spiderman preparing to spin webs over our theatres, worldwide, in the coming months, Kirsten Dunst, who plays the beautiful Mary Jane, has graced the April 2007 issue of W Magazine, with her beauty.

The issue includes stunning photographs taken by the talented Craig McDean.

Miss Dunst spoke to V magazine on life; personal, film-atical, and all things juicy. Here’s a brief overview:

On her self-proclaimed best performance in the 1994 film Interview with a Vampire that costarred Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt and earned her a Golden Globe nomination: “I’ve never been so good! After 11, it all went downhill.”

On her disappointment of Marie Antoinette’s failure to connect with a wider audience: “I’m really disappointed in taste right now. I hope I don’t sound weird,” she explains. “I’m not bitter. I’m just a little, Well, that sucks because I really liked the movie. Whatevs. It’ll live on.”

On her personal life: “I don’t want to get into any of that because I don’t want to ruin my life. I’m done talking about anybody until I’m married. I’m a person who likes to hang out. I would never go on a blind date. That sounds like the most uncomfortable thing on the planet earth. It’s like, ‘Hi. Nice to meet you. So, what kind of music do you like?’ Date ended.”

On who Kirsten wants to end up with: “I need to eat a piece of pizza on a stoop in New York, and I cannot be with anybody fancy.”

On being a cheap-o: “Even though I was making tons of money and doing movies. I would still be excited to go with $20 to Contempo Casuals.”

On coming to terms with being a celebrity: “I’m okay with it. I love what I do, and I know that I’ve been given this gift. But there was a time when I wasn’t, of course. And if I didn’t struggle with it, I probably wouldn’t be a good actress at all. I used to feel like I had to be the best at what I did, but I realized I don’t have to be the best. It’s so freeing. I’ve never been this happy.”

Two Sydneysiders choose to save the world and get married – all in one night.

Earth Hour - Saturday 31 March 2007, 7:30pm-8:30pm

By Honey Gillard

A candle-lit wedding; romantic and environmentally friendly.

Sydneysiders Jo Elvey and Eric Hutchens have not let their previous wedding plans stand in the way of them helping to save the world.

The couple, who had planned to exchange vows on the 31st of March, didn’t plan on turning out the lights at their wedding reception, but now that Earth Hour has hit, that’s exactly what they plan on doing.

They had booked the venue sometime ago now, but as soon as a friend told them about Earth Hour, they instantaneously considered how they could be part of the world-first global warming scheme to turn off Sydney’s lights for one hour on Saturday 31 March.

“We decided to turn it into a positive,” said Ms Elvey, a development manager, “We believe that every little thing you do can make a difference.”

Jo and Eric had booked the landmark city hotel venue for their wedding, so that guests could be spellbound by the spectacle of the city’s lights, during the reception, but have decided to make the most of Earth Hour.

Candles will light the wedding and the booked band will be performing ‘unplugged’. The lights of the couple’s reception room will be shut off during the entrée course; perhaps making it a green course, but lighting will resume during the main course.

“It could be quite exciting when the lights in the city come back on,” stated Ms Elvey.

All I can say is that if this couple can still participate in this great green cause on one of the most important nights of their lives, then why can’t the rest of Sydney?

Earth Hour is set to switch on; or off for this matter; on Saturday the 31st of March between the hours of 7:30pm and 8:30pm.

To participate in Earth Hour visit Earth Hour - Home and sign up.
