Two is company. Dupree is a crowd.
Newlyweds Molly & Carl Peterson (Kate Hudson & Matt Dillon) thought they had it all planned out & were ready to settle down & relax, but that was before Dupree came and crashed their party. Randolph Dupree (Owen Wilson), Carl’s oldest friend and a perpetual bachelor, finds himself homeless & jobless, and doing what any friend would do Carl invites him to ‘temporarily’ crash on his couch. But as days pass and awkward and hilarious situations are encountered, they release that this is no ‘temporary’ stay. Molly begins becoming buried in Dupree’s child-like antics, whilst Carl becomes covered in his ‘adult’ job and finding it harder and harder to juggle his responsibilities as a husband, his job & Dupree. Then comes the twist. Views change and new companions are formed. Dupree further more finds himself being seen and adored as the lovable & hilarious goofball, whilst Carl is pushed aside after failing to juggle is life & switching into Carl overload.
We soon realize that threes not just a crowd, it’s a total calamity – or maybe it’s just these 3 clashing individual; Molly with her sensible & caring nature, Carl with his all-over total Carl-ness and Dupree with his immature & reckless yet wise and loyal behaviour. If you’re looking for a night of small laughs and awkward moments then head down to your local video store and pick this one up. It’s no blockbuster but it’s definitely worth the hour and 49 minutes. I’d give it 4 thumbs up (that’s saying I have 5 thumbs).

A Smile is more than just a look – it’s a feeling, it’s a trigger for happiness and it’s a piece of the puzzle of peace. Most of us think that when we smile, when we laugh that that is all we’re merely doing, but you see when we smile our body releases endorphins (those pain-killing hormones that make us feel good), which in turn make us happy, or at least happier.
“SMILING IS
CONTAGIOUS”
Not only is smiling good for us but also if you find you’re friend having one of those rainy or down days, by smiling and trying to make her/him smile and laugh is possibly the greatest thing you could do for them. Besides smiling is contagious (unless someone has a basic character flaw that prevents them from enjoying life), because each time a person smiles, the pleasure receptors in the brain release endorphins, which promote a sensation of well-being and contentment. When you’re feeling stressed, whether it’s that big test coming up or just a build-up of the stresses of everyday life the best medicine is a smile. So, If you’ve lost your sense of humor, best thign is to find it immediately. When we laugh, or smile, endorphins are released, triggering stress hormone levels to drop. A good idea for those rainy days is to create a stress relief kit – stocked with your favorite stress-busting devices from comics to clown noses, whatever tickles your own funny bone. Keep this kit handy at all times because you never know when a good ol’ laugh will save the day.
“with every smile, every laugh we are helping bring sunshine into not only our lives but also into the lives of others.”
So apart from the all mighty endorphins what good is in smiling for us? Well ask yourself this question when you see someone who’s smiling what are your first impressions of that person. No doubt they would be that that person is friendly, happy, and welcoming. Also they’re usually the first ones that a stranger will approach or speak to when seeking directions or assistance.Did you know that babies are actually born with the emotional fabric to smile when feeling pleasurable? Yeah. So smiling is not a response taught to us from life experiences but rather a natural sign of pleasure or delight. So you see we were born to smile. And with every smile, every laugh we are helping to bring sunshine into not only our lives but also into the lives of others. Bringing a further sense of peace into this sometimes gloom-filled world. With so much disaster and hate in this world we need to put our best smile forward and do our best to bring as much light and happiness into this world as we can. So next time you’re down or clouded in the negative energy of this world remember ‘Peace starts with a smile’.

A few years back if you were to ask, “Do you celebrate Festivus?” you would have got a whole lot of confused faces or bookings into a mental institution. But today this celebration isn’t very unusual and is coming increasing popular every year.It all began in 1997 when a wacky holiday season episode of “Seinfeld” was aired. The character Frank Costanza (creator and activist for ‘Festivus’) protests the commercialisation of Christmas by putting up a bare aluminium pole instead of a tree. The metal, he claims enthusiastically, has a “very high strength-to-weight ratio.” Since then more and more Americans have been catching the Festivus flu and spreading the aluminium around.
“The metal has a very high strength-to-weight ratio.”
The holiday celebrated on Dec. 23 features an airing of complaints and acts of strength in which a guest must wrestle and pin the host before the conclusion of the party. Where there’s a holiday to be celebrated there is money to be made. Last year the Wagner companies made a total close to $15 million dollars in sales of metal rails, brackets and pipe elbows, earned a few thousand dollars on the sale of Festivus poles. Wagner sold approximately 250 Festivus poles in 2005, followed by over 300 sales this year. The “Seinfeld” Festivus episode advanced from series writer Dan O’Keefe’s childhood experiences. In fact O’Keefe’s father invented the holiday in the 1960’s. It may have taken it almost 50 years but Festivus season is beginning to really hit it off.

So if you hate buying and receiving Christmas presents that you feel inevitably disappoint. Maybe next year you should op for a good ol’ aluminium pole in your lounge room rather than the oh-so-traditional Christmas tree. Invite some mates, or non-mates around to participate in some Festivus moaning and groaning, and just enjoy the holiday, and all that it is.

All around the world many teenagers are feeling the pressure to be what society calls ‘perfect’; being as skinny as Lindsay Lohan or changing every little detail about themselves to impress others; committing acts, straining them both mentally and physically, in order to merely be part of a group or to be classified as ‘cool’. They see the image of perfection outlaid by the media and desire to be it –to be accepted by those who set a criteria physically (rather than mentally) for their so-called friends, who are just plain judgemental and critical of others. After awhile of focusing on their flaws they began to see only their negative traits and yet become blind to the flaws of others around them. But isn’t there and instance when such lack of flaws becomes a flaw within itself. In the transition, as flaws lessen, instead of nearing closer to perfection we are rather distanced from it. As we fail to see the hidden fact that besides what the media seems to portray, perfection lies in the flaws.
“An original is always worth more than a copy.”
These ‘friends’ whom u look so much up to, our wish to belong to their group – think about their personality, are they judgemental and critical? If so you really need to think about 1. If u really want their further friendship and 2. If so why you do? Not only does perfection lay in your flaws but it also lays in the invisible part of you, it lies inside of you – in your personality, (your unique character which you’ll always be the master of). And as one wise lady once said “An original is always worth more than a copy.” Look at today’s models, what makes them so beautiful or eye-catching – their uniqueness, whether it’s their big eyes or forehead, most models are chosen for their individual and unique look. Take for example a rose. This flower is known worldwide for it’s beauty and is one of the strongest symbols for one of the most beautiful feelings and perhaps extraordinary and beautiful things on earth – L.O.V.E. But yet if we stick to the theory that perfection has no flaws then how can a rose be perfection or any where near perfection – as doesn’t it have its thorns. Compare a rose with thorns to a rose without thorns, which is truly more beautiful – My guess the thorn one, as it’s thorns – it’s flaws – make it even more beautiful. Just as our flaws do for us.
“In the transition, as flaws lessen,
instead of nearing closer to perfection we are rather distanced from it.”
So if you look at it this way we are all roses, and therefore we all have our thorns, as well as our pedals. Though for some our thorns are our character and our pedals our looks, and vice versa. Some choose for our flaws, our thorns to be our personality our inner self and others choose to let our thorns be the natural flaws of our physical appearance. Ask yourself this, “Where would a rose be without it’s thorn?”

Your friends are the best medicine–and your dog. My dog is the only man in my life.[now]
The wrong way to kiss:
It’s always been a pet peeve of mine if a guy is like, “So is it ok if I kiss you now?” It’s so much cooler to just go for it as opposed to announcing it and ruining the moment. It’s like saying, “Let’s talk about this; My lips are going to go here at a 90 degree angle–how do you feel about that?”
